JANUARY or THE MONTH WE BECAME REAL!

Hello lovelies!

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. We took a little break but we’re back now and raring to go! So many incredible and exciting things are happening in the Coin-Op House!

At the beginning of the year we took our annual business trip to North Berwick. We like to hunker down by the sea for a few days to look at what we have accomplished and learnt in the previous year, and make all of our plans for going forward. And our 2023 planning trip was a big one…

We are so excited to announce that we are now officially Coin-Operated Press CIC, as we took the big step to registering our business. We’re Real! And we will be going out for celebratory drinks as soon as we get through the mountain of admin that is January!!

Chloe is hard at work building us a new website. It looks beautiful and I can’t wait to show it to you all!

We have just had our submission meeting for our first zine of 2023 – ‘Anxiety’ is going to be amazing, we had so many wonderful submissions. So many that we couldn’t include everybody or it would have been as thick as the Yellow Pages! Chloe is working on editing the zine together this week, and I’ll be in touch with everybody who sent us artwork, writing, photography, poetry…..very soon!

‘Anxiety’ will be available in the Coin-Op Shop online in a couple of weeks. We are also looking forward to tabling at Edinburgh Zine Fair again this year, where you can buy zines, badges, stickers, postcards, plectrums, and even some cute mini-zine jewellery. We will be at EZF on Saturday 18th February from 11am – 6pm at the Fruitmarket Warehouse. It would be great to see you there!

Coin-Operated Press CIC are so thrilled to announce that we will be launching our pop-up shop at Paradise Palms, Edinburgh on Sunday 5th February. The shop will be open from 1pm – 6pm. Myself and Chloe will be manning the store every Sunday, so do pop along and say hi! You will also be able to buy Coin-Op zines every day of February – just pay at the Paradise Palms bar!

We will be hosting our usual monthly zine-making workshops this year – and adding in some special ones too! The first workshop of 2023 will be at Rad Apples in Dundee on 10th February, followed by Kafe Kweer in Edinburgh on 16 Feb. You can find more info and grab your tickets here. Tickets are on a sliding scale. Funds generated through ticket sales will help us to continue supplying materials,  cover venue hire, and continue our work with zine-outreach and publishing the work of those who might not otherwise be published.

Keep your eye on our events calendar and socials to keep up to date with all of our zine-making antics in 2023!

See you soon!

Katie.
